IK Multimedia iRig Pads MIDI groove Alternatives: 6 Similar Picks Compared

How Each Alternative Compares

CAHAYA Portable Heavy-Duty DJ Booth Table

The CAHAYA Portable DJ Booth Table is a metal workstation, not a controller. It weighs 33 pounds and features a dual-tier corner top for stability. This contrasts with the 1.8-pound iRig Pads, which is designed for portability and direct connection to iOS or Mac devices. The CAHAYA unit provides a solid surface for organizing cables and equipment, making it ideal for DJs who prioritize a stable base over a compact beat machine. It lacks velocity-sensitive pads or MIDI controls, serving instead as a physical support structure. You should pick this if you need a dedicated station rather than a portable groove tool.

Sparklingtrack 12 LED Portable Par Light

The Sparklingtrack 12 LED Par Light is a portable lighting solution, not a MIDI controller. It measures 1.96 by 5.5 by 5.4 inches and weighs significantly less than the iRig Pads. This device offers RGB lighting with sound activation and battery power, intended for parties, weddings, and clubs. It lacks the 16 velocity-sensitive backlit rubber pads and programmable MIDI knobs found on the IK Multimedia unit. The Sparklingtrack provides ambient visual effects without any audio input or beat-making capabilities. Choose this alternative if you require portable, sound-reactive lighting for mobile events rather than a compact device for creating musical grooves on the go.

Green Keeper Dual 6.5-Inch Portable Speaker

The Green Keeper Dual 6.5-Inch Portable Speaker is an audio output device, not a control surface. It measures 11 by 19 by 11 inches and weighs 16.3 pounds, making it much larger and heavier than the 1.8-pound iRig Pads. This speaker offers 500W output and Bluetooth connectivity for karaoke and outdoor parties. It lacks velocity-sensitive pads, MIDI knobs, and USB or Lightning connectivity for device integration. The Green Keeper focuses on high-volume audio reproduction for singers and party hosts. You should select this if you need portable sound reinforcement with battery life, rather than a compact tool for triggering samples and manipulating beats via MIDI signals.

Hercules DJControl Inpulse 200 USB Controller

The Hercules DJControl Inpulse 200 is a USB controller with a built-in sound card, designed for beginners. It measures 7.66 by 12.6 inches and weighs 1.86 pounds, similar in weight to the iRig Pads but larger in footprint. This unit includes performance pads and visual mixing guides for learning. Unlike the iRig Pads, which connect via Lightning or USB-C for mobile use, the Inpulse 200 relies on USB connectivity and a built-in sound card for direct audio output. It offers a structured learning experience with visual aids. Pick this if you prioritize direct audio output and guided mixing features over the ultra-portable, app-centric workflow of the IK Multimedia device.

HUALIAN Dual 8-Inch Portable Karaoke Speaker

The HUALIAN Dual 8-Inch Portable Karaoke Speaker is a vocal performance tool, not a DJ controller. It measures 19.6 by 10 by 9.2 inches and features 8-inch subwoofers. This device supports Bluetooth, USB, and AUX connectivity for karaoke and parties. It lacks the 16 velocity-sensitive pads, MIDI knobs, and compact form factor of the iRig Pads. The HUALIAN unit is designed for singers and party hosts, prioritizing vocal amplification and party lighting over music production. It offers no MIDI control or sample triggering capabilities. Choose this alternative if you need a portable audio system for vocal performances rather than a lightweight controller for creating beats and grooves on mobile devices.

Hercules DJControl Starlight with USB Adapter

The Hercules DJControl Starlight is a portable 2-channel controller with USB connectivity. It is designed for beginners and travelers who need a lightweight setup for simple two-deck mixing. Unlike the iRig Pads, which features 16 velocity-sensitive backlit rubber pads and multiple programmable MIDI controls, the Starlight focuses on basic channel mixing. It is bus-powered via USB and lacks the dedicated groove controller features like the rotary encoder and slider found on the IK Multimedia unit. The Starlight suits those who need a practical entry point for mixing. Select this if you prioritize straightforward channel control and portability over the advanced beat-making and scene programming capabilities of the iRig Pads.
